• Happy New Year everyone! I hope your holiday was filled with good times and grateful hearts. This past Sunday Jason did a Gospel workshop where he presented us with two challenges: heart exploration and then living in Gospel rhythm. The questions this week flow from that and will hopefully provide you with opportunities to do a Gospel walk through with people in your groups.

Ask your group is someone is willing to share an area or incident in which the Gospel rhythm is not being applied. Hopefully, the environment is safe enough that someone can share a real part of their life with the group. Then walk through this area using the notes with that person allowing the group to give scripture and suggestion. Do this as many times as possible. Use the following as a guide:

The person in your group shares the area. You then ask the group these questions?

    1. What do they need to remember? What Scripture might God use to remind them of the truth?
    2. For what do they need to repent? What Scripture informs us that we need to have a change of mind about this area or our reaction?
    3. In what do they need to rejoice? What Scripture will encourage and build this person up in the reality of what Jesus did for them?
    4. What will restoration look like? Does this call for any confession and asking forgiveness from another brother?
    5. With whom will they rehearse this truth? (community) Who will continue to walk through this area with this person?
    6. How do we prepare to do it again?

In what ways are you exploring God’s heart? Perhaps, many will answer with typical spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Bible reading, singing, etc. Perhaps follow up with questions like, “How are you exploring God’s heart in prayer?” “What are you learning about God’s heart in the Bible/songs?”

In what ways are you exploring other’s hearts? What characterizes your conversations with other believers?

In what ways are you exploring your own heart? Do you doubt your own heart first or do you doubt others first? What people are able to speak directly to you about the condition of your heart?
