Philippians—Together on Mission
Below are some suggestions for your group this week. I hope they serve you as we begin together this study through Paul’s letter.
- Read through Philippians and mark sections or verses dealing with Gospel partnership and sharing.
- Spend time in prayer asking that God would allow us as a people to be willing to look into the mirror of Philippians. Remember, we are going to hear some of the same points over and over in this book (Gospel, partnership, joy, suffering) so we are going to have to wrestle with what God says to us. Ask God to allow your group to be prepared to change as he leads.
- Spend time praying through Philippians 1:9-11 asking God to make Paul’s prayer for the Philippians a reality in our church.
- Read Matthew 28:18-20 and define the mission we have been given by Jesus. Be specific and detailed. What does this passage ask of us?
- Tim Chester wrote, “Most Gospel ministry involves ordinary people doing ordinary things with Gospel intentionality.” What does this look like in your life? What are the ordinary things? And, are you doing them with the intention of sharing the Gospel?
